Through the years, I've been inspired by the likes of Golden Age illustrators Arthur Rackham and Windsor McCay, as well as contemporary comic book artists like Moebius, Eddie Campbell, and Katsuhiro Otomo. I admired not only the ingenuity of their visuals, but also the technical skill with which their work was executed. These were were masters of anatomy, composition--all the building blocks of quality drawing.
For these reasons, I have always been attracted to the works of science fiction/fantasy illustrators and comic book artists; imitating these artists when I was young ultimately led me to pursue art as a profession. After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2007, I found myself returning to the science fiction/fastasy genre which had attracted me to drawing as a youngster. In addition to my comics work, it satisfies my desire to create a narrative in my work, and continues to be a challenge to my skills and imagination.
