GLASS ARTIST (PA)
Born and raised in Havertown Pa, I currently live in Malvern Pa, with my wife Jeannine for the past 17 years. My life was forever changed when I was introduced to Glasslight Studio near St. Peters Village Pa in 2012. A single glassblowing class, ignited something deep inside me.This art form of unlimited possibilities has become an obsession.
There is a deeply primal aspect to creating art that begins in a formless molten state of 2200 degrees. It requires fluid techniques, intense focus, and commands respect. It is a work in progress spanning decades to obtain mastery of it.The potential for failure can be high, but so are the rewards when everything goes right. This is the education you obtain from working with glass. My inspiration can come from a multitude of sources. However, I find that I gravitate towards the natural world as my primary muse. I strive to make each work unique. They have an organic flow to them with soft curves, bubbles, and a sense of fluid movement as core elements. A recent exploration of a technique that sculpts with compressed air, is producing some fascinating results. When applied to the outer skin of molten glass, short blasts of air can create natural curves and fissures that grab and bend light in unexpected ways. This technique transforms any object at its core, into something new for the eye to behold.
