Olga Nielsen's sculptures, paintings and drawings are inspired by the fascination with all living things, but especially with the human body and face. Her work is a reflection on the poetry and the timeless beauty of the human form.
She studied figure drawing, painting and sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Olga exhibits her work extensively in Philadelphia area in solo had group shows, her bronze sculptures and portraits in pastel and oil are in many private and public collections and include many commissioned pieces such as a recent bronze relief portrait of the Wilmington Montessori School founder, Marie Dugan, commissioned in January 2014, a life size bronze statue of Saint Leonie Aviat for Saint Bernadette of Lourdes Parish in Drexel Hill, PA, 2011, a cast stone sculpture of playing child for Wilmington Montessori School, Wilmington, DE, 2009, and many others.
Her works were published in “Strokes of Genius 3, Best of Drawing” book in 2011 and “Strokes of Genius 5, Best of Drawing” book in 2013. In July 2012 her sculpture “Rebecca” was awarded Leona Karp Braverman Award at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Fellowship 113th Exhibition.
Olga is a Faculty member at the Delaware College of Art and Design, Wilmington, DE, at the Center for the Creative Arts at Yorklyn, DE, at the The Community Arts Center, Wallingford, PA and at the Darlington Arts Center, Garnet Valley, PA.
Olga was born in Russia and currently resides in Wilmington, DE
