ART DOLLS (PA)
I live in a small house in Western Pennsylvania with my husband, and three children. Most of the time I can’t separate life and art and so I try to see the beauty in the most unlikely places and things. One of the gifts I want to share as an artist is creating an object that hopefully lifts the spirit in others.
As a child, I was always drawn to handmade looking dolls. But so often the dolls were not connecting with me. I started making my vision of a type of doll that I couldn’t find elsewhere. It’s taken most my life to finally come up with a design that comes very close to what I was dreaming of.
My art dolls are tiny portraits of women. Every doll I make offers a new or better idea for the next doll. I’m also a painter and I often incorporate my dolls onto my small paintings.
I have a Bachelors Degree in the Fine Arts with a focus on painting from Syracuse University. I have shown my work in Chicago, New York and Pittsburgh. Joseph Cornell, primitive art, Julie Shaw Lutts, Paul Klee, Maudstarr, Bernard Jeunet, and many more have influenced my artwork.
